thought vomit.

love that title, huh? haha :) so, this week is probably the only week this semester that i'm excited to go to my classes.  why?  because for a couple hours out of the day i'm sharing a building with john mayer.  no, it's not because i'm ga-ga about him (although he is very handsome) or an annoying "fan girl" who squeals at the thought of him.  h to the no.  i love his music and the way his mind works.

my take on celebrities is probably different than most people's (thank you, belmont, for helping shape my appreciation for those who are highly sought after).  confession time: i used to want to be ridiculously famous because i wanted money and i wanted to be loved by many, many people. (it's crazy how comfortable a blog can make a person feel about sharing their innermost secrets!) i don't want to be famous anymore really.  the only reason i'd want fame is for the instantaneous accumulation of wealth.  i'd make sure my parents wouldn't ever have to worry about money again.  the thing i've noticed about fame is that it can be like a bubble.  there are many incredible perks to fame, but the thing that i'd struggle with the most if i was famous would be the seclusion.  i would hate not being able to go to the grocery store with some sense of anonymity.  i guess it's a small price to pay for loads of attention.

anyways, john mayer is one of my greatest inspirations.  i know that sounds so cheesy, but i'm serious.  when i set aside time for songwriting, i have him to thank for the way i put things.  he personifies emotions (ie: belief - "belief is a beautiful armor but makes for the heaviest sword, like punching underwater, you never can hit who you're trying for." belief, continuum) and brings a certain element of sentience to situations we all go through (for instance, heartache: "drop [her] name, push it in and twist the knife again. watch my face as i pretend to feel no pain." heartbreak warfare, battle studies; or unrequited love: "love is really nothing but a dream that keeps waking me, for all of my trying we still end up dying, how can it be?" edge of desire, battle studies).

i think i could write about how i relate, in some way, to each song of his - and that's what a good songwriter does; they make room for you to relate.

yep, so that's what i've been thinking about in class, while driving to and from school, at work .... maaan, that's what i've been thinking about all week.  who am i kidding?! :) haha!  well, if i meet mr. mayer, i can cross that off of my bucket list.  would i really gain anything from meeting him?  i don't think i'd gain anything overly substantial, but i'd be happy to meet the man i already know; or at least, think i know.  that's why music is a beautiful thing - it allows a man like john mayer to share his heart and experiences with people who can relate, appreciate, and understand.
